Dr. Wesley D. Scott
Dr. Scott grew up in a small town in western Oregon twenty miles from the Pacific ocean that was dominated by the timber industry. After turning down a Navy ROTC scholarship to Oregon State University, he attended the local community college (Southwestern Oregon Community College - SWOCC) for two years before returning to Oregon State University, where he completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering.
He then accepted a direct commission as a Second Lieutenant in the Biomedical Science Corps, United States Air Force and served thirty-nine months as a Bioenvironmental Engineer (BEE). After completing his tour of duty, he joined the Indiana Air National Guard, 122nd Tactical Fighter Wing and enrolled in Purdue University where he completed a Master of Science in Engineering at the Ray W. Herrick Laboratory. (The Herrick Laboratory is a part of the Mechanical Engineering Department and specializes in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) and accoustics.)
After graduation, he and his future wife moved to Bryan, Texas so he could begin a Ph.D. program at Texas A&M University. After an extended stay that involved a change of major, a wedding, two advisors leaving the university, and a variety of teaching assignments and research projects, he completed a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering.
